On the first day of our trip, we left Katy and headed to Palo Duro Canyon State Park, just south of Amarillo. Avery had seen some pictures of the canyon which is known as the “Grand Canyon Of Texas” and wanted to check it out. We were hoping to get there early enough to squeeze in a hike to The Lighthouse formation, but we didn’t arrive until 6:00 PM and the park ranger at the gate said it would be a 4 hour hike .
Exploring The Cave
Since we decided against the Lighthouse hike, we drove around the park and found a cave we could explore. The cave wasn’t very deep, but it was a lot of fun to climb around the various rocks and formations at the mouth. There were lots of cool red rock formations.
Decided To Stay
Our plan was to keep driving after visiting Palo Duro, but since we weren’t able to do the Lighthouse hike, the girl talked her dad into staying the night and doing the hike first thing in the morning. So, we are already behind schedule on the first day.
I think I speak for Us all when I say, “We want more pictures!”. Please share more photos of yalls beautiful journey for those of Us lost in the concrete jungle.
sincerely,
