We broke camp early and headed to the park to hike the Lighthouse trail. Thankfully it was only 68 degrees, unlike the 98 degrees when we arrived the evening before. The trail is pretty easy, winding thru scrub brush and side canyons. Along the way you see some nice rock formations of many different colors. We even saw a few hoodoos like we see in Utah’s canyon country. The groomed trail goes for about 2.7 miles, then you climb up through a rocky ravine to get to the base of the Lighthouse formation. You can then climb up to the platform between the two structures if you desire. The views from here are great. Palo Duro Canyon is very pretty. We climbed around the back of the formation and were then able to scramble our way to the top for some even better views.
