We left Katy early and had a long day just getting out of Texas and into New Mexico. But, our goal was to get close to White Sands so we could go thru there first thing the next morning. Along the way we went thru Austin, San Angelo, and Big Spring. Not much to see. Lots of oil drilling going on around Hobbs NM and the roads were awful along there.
At end of day we went thru Lincoln National Forest and stopped in Cloudcroft NM, which was a really nice little town. It is in a mountainous area and there are a couple Ski areas around Cloudcroft which might be nice to try out some day. Map
That’s definitely some super-white sand and one beautiful girl!
