Mono Lake – Yosemite

We are stuck in the Lake Tahoe area as the Expedition is sick and we had to take her to the local dealership for repairs.  Hoping to get her back tomorrow (Wednesday) so we can move on to Utah.

But since we were in the area we rented a car and drove to the Yosemite area.  On the way we stopped at Mono Lake which is very interesting as it has high mineral content relative to other inland lakes. It actually has 2.5 times the normal amount of salt as your typical sea.   It is so dense that if you enter the water you will naturally float without having to swim or tread water.

We didn’t get very far into Yosemite, but it was enough for Avery to see the beauty it offers and to do a little climbing.  Unfortunately, the skies were very hazy due to the forest fire burning just west of Yosemite Park.

Bummer about the vehicle, but like true intrepid adventurers, you found a way to keep on exploring. Glad you made your way to Yosemite, which seems like a great place to add to your ramble. So different from Crater Lake, but beautiful in it’s own way! On to Canyonlands! On to Arches! Wish I was there! Miss you guys!
